Here is an overview of the issue:
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
            Key: CAY-109
Summary: Sequences are reengineered as tables on PostgreSQL
           Type: Bug

         Status: Assigned
       Priority: Major

        Project: Cayenne
     Components:
                 Cayenne Core Library
       Fix Fors:
                 1.0 [STABLE]
       Versions:
                 1.0 [STABLE]
                 1.1 [DEV]

       Assignee: Andrus Adamchik
       Reporter: Andrus Adamchik

        Created: Tue, 23 Mar 2004 2:10 PM
        Updated: Tue, 23 Mar 2004 2:10 PM
    Environment: JDBC driver is pg74jdbc3.jar
PG version 7.4 on OS X and Linux

    Description:
Reverse engineering that creates a new DataMap works fine. However when attempting to reengineer DB into an existing DataMap, CayenneModeler does not filter just Views and Tables, but also includes sequences and other objects that postgres stores as tables internally.

Fix: the fix is implemented and will be checked in to CVS soon to both STABLE and HEAD (and released as 1.0.7, and 03/24/2004 nightly build).

Workaround: until this is fixed, do not create an empty DataMap before reengineering. Instead select a postgres DataNode and do reengineer. Newly created DataMap will contain correct subset of tables.
