Description:
Currently, the XMLEncoder is set to ignore the synthetic root if only one node is returned. Thus, singleton lists are returned without the root. This is inconsistent, because a query could return different XML structures depending on the data.
A patch is attached which still ignores the synthetic root if a data object is passed directly, but includes it if a Collection is encoded, regardless of size.
