I would have loved to make it work on 1.3, but time is very limited for me.
I will try some internal stuff that I can reuse first, if I dont have time
to port it.
But I must admit that Cayenne is "J U S T A M A Z I N G".

Unfortunately, since we developed Cayenne on 1.4, there is quiet a few
dependencies on 1.4 new features, including logging, XML parsing, JDBC 3.0,
GUI layout managers.
It shouldn't be too hard to port the runtime back to 1.3 (replace logging
with log4j, SAX parser with Xerces, etc.) We raise this issue every once in
a while. It is being postponed due to the lack of time. Since we've already
received a few requests like yours, this issue is raising in priority.
I wouldn't promise a particular date for that to happen, but definitely
need to start looking in this direction. Maybe we could even get volunteers
to do it?
