    Yes, I have a listener set up. And yes, I did upgraded and it stopped
    working. But, none of those were the problem.

    Someone edited the server.xml and messed up the document base of this
    application. Weird, because I spent 2 hours downgrading, changing
    jar's and nothing worked. But after I fixed the document base,
    everything worked fine again. Guess I'll have to put even the server
    config files in the CVS repository...
