To answer your questions:

The double set of primary keys is because this is a mixed application of
legacy and new tables/fields. The table represents pieces of genetic
material that might match the designed locus (piece of genetic material) on
a microarray plate. There are variable lists of properties for these, hence
the numeric synonym PK. This is a work-in-progress so your suggestions might
be incorporated.
