Yikes! The Mac OS X kernel may be confused because you've deleted
the directories in which it maintains records of all file system I/O
(/.fseventsd) and file system search indices (/.Spotlight-V100). I
don't know what would break or behave unexpectedly with these
directories gone, but it might be wise to reboot.
These are "hidden" files readable, writable, and executable only by
root for a good reason: regular users aren't supposed to muck with them.
