The standard templates really only allow for the "standard stuff" which is
all that's necessary most of the time.
If you have custom needs, you're better off creating your own customized
templates.
My templates look very little like the default cayenne templates.
Cayenne is nice in that it combines the best EOF-features with EOGenerator
features :)
If you liked EOF, you're probably going to like Cayenne. In some ways,
Cayenne is better than EOF (like not having to lock editing contexts). The
ways in which it doesn't meet or exceed EOF expectations generally have to
do with items on the todo-list rather than incompatible design.
In fact, I was just thinking yesterday how nice it'd be if I could change my
current WebObject project over to use Cayenne :)
