    This does not make you a jerk :-)

    Maven is a pain in the neck to get your head wrapped around, but
    after you do its worth it (or at least it has been for me).

    The IRC for maven tends to be very good too. The community is very
    helpful in general and IRC provides faster feedback.

    Just for proof that maven is not all together straightforward the IRC
    header is 'Still, maybe 20% of the time, I don't feel that I'm using
    a tool so much as appeasing a petty god.' So they even have a sense
    of humor :-)

    I'm no expert either but I'm glad to try to help with any questions.
