Hi Mark,
Yes, the problem is I am trying to move away from Apple's development
tools (XCode) particularly, which lacks considerably in its support for
Java development (over Objective-C development) and even more in
comparison to other commercial IDEs (eg no refactoring support).
Further Java client development in Interface Builder is really somewhat
of a (n impressive) hack. As you probably know, Interface Builder is
primarily for building NIB-based interfaces that employ the Cocoa widget
set. It's amazing they can even make it do Java GUI development.
Also, the Java GUI development is a bit convoluted (from my experience)
when you move outside the widgets supported by Interface Builder (it
only maps a subset of its widgets to Java widgets), and has more limited
support for the rest of the Java widgets.
It is also doing code generation.
I would prefer to use one IDE (eg Eclipse) or an IDE tailored to Java
development (eg JBuilder).
I hope that makes it clear, your question was a good one though.
Cheers,
Ashley.
PS And, no, using Eclipse doesn't preclude using Interface Builder,
although IB works best with XCode for full (ie all tier) Java client Web
applications.

Does using Eclipse preclude its use?(Sorry if I'm missing the point. ;-)
